The sand at beach four is course and dark. It makes sighing sounds when the surf moves it. Anything in the surf is rapidly sand-blasted into unrecognizable shapes<br />
I believe this is the core of a pine cone freshly ground down to it's spine. But it's hard to be sure.

A line of four squalls advances out of the north pacific. These storms can be very organized at this stage of their existence. They are what generated the waves that are breaking in the foreground. <br />
On the drive to get to these beaches we came to a place where the pavement was dry and in the distance of less that a yard became water-running-off wet.  The storm that caused this was visible to the North-East of us. We drove on wet road for about two miles then were again on dry pavement as suddenly as we had left it.
