There is a raft of plastic floating in the Pacific Ocean the size of a small state. Scientists who have studied it say the plastic is not breaking down chemically. It is physically breaking into smaller and smaller pieces. I suspect that a portion of the foam on this beach is plastic that has reached molecular size. I wonder if when enough plastic reaches molecular size it will form a petro-chemical slick over the entire ocean...

I think this used to be a pile of rocks on a beach. It's now buried in a bank 20 feet above the beach. Geologists have demonstrated that vertical displacement of this magnitude has happened several times along the Juan de Fuca fault
